Diamond Billiards VA was one of my first real branding packages, and by far the longest lasting and most successful. They still have the same logo on the front of the building over a decade later!

The project started like a lot of my projects do. I was already a player at the place and had been playing league games for a few months. I had gotten to know the owner decently well and I offered to do a new logo for them to see how they liked it. The logo project turned into a business card project which turned into a website project and eventually a t-shirt.

I was very new at design, but this project was one of the first designs I was really proud of.

I wanted to go for a rich color palette to hint at all the green and the burgundy color on the walls (at the time). I had just figured out how to do sunbursts in Photoshop, so I figured why not throw one in there as well.

The site#

This was one of my first big sites with a lot of potential features. At the time the owners wanted to start a blog, have an up-to-date events calendar, etc. I had no idea how I was going to build all of that stuff, but I eventually got it all done. The current site is very different now, as expected. I would definitely redesign this one differently myself as well!

The t-shirt#

This orange version is one of many color options I produced. The owners repainted the inside of the building and switched up the color scheme such that my previous website design didn‘t match anymore. So I wanted to produce a t-shirt design that could be colorized many different ways. My thinking is that it would sell better if there were lots of options to choose from and if it was simple to update when the inside paint colors updated.

This exact shirt design is still being sold today! They‘ve since added other designs, but as far as I know this shirt has sold well over the years!
